Thank You, Mary and Karen
Great big thanks goes to Mary Andrew-Swacker and Karen Proffitt, our superb department volunteers who share their time and talents to extend the mission of the Red Cross. Mary--every month, you faithfully produce about 50 Health and Safety news releases that highlight upcoming First Aid, CPR, and Water Safety classes--and, wow, do we get pick-up in our local papers! Karen--you've been with us from the beginning of the cooperative Public Awareness Events efforts, helping to design the process, maintain the logs, and handle the administration. Thanks to your efforts we are able to coordinate health fairs and public education opportunities across the region, helping thousands of people to learn more about how the Red Cross can help them to manage emergencies.
Mary and Karen, we are most thankful for all you have done--and continue to do. Happy Thanksgiving!

A special thanks to Assistant Superintendent Dr. Brian Lane in the Mehlville School District for his support within his district and to Nancy Becker at Trautwein Elementary for helping us "nurse" the Ready Rating progam, especially when we were in the pilot phase. Thank you, Tom Warwick!
Hey, Tom Warwick! We are so thankful for your volunteer time and talents. The professional photographs that you have taken at our Lifesaver Community Awards events are wonderful--and your photos help us to tell the story of how Red Cross safety training really saves lives. (Everyone can see Tom's photos in our Red Cross Gallery--some of the photos are amateur shots taken by staff--but the great photos are Tom's! Click here to see It's especially cool that you yourself received the Red Cross Lifesaver Award and were the Lifesaver of the Year in 2000. I'll never forget hearing the story of how you were driving on I-270 when you almost got hit by another car--and you realized the driver was having a heart attack and needed help. Just like that, you veered over with the other car, ran to the man and started CPR to save his life. The letters you received from the man's grandchildren would make anyone cry--the kids were so thankful that you saved their grandpa's life. Anyway, you are a great Red Cross volunteer--and a remarkable person. Thanks for everything, Tom.
