Red Cross Presents Lifesaver Community Award to City of Clayton
 During a recent onsite award presentation, the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter presented its Lifesaver Community Award to the City of Clayton for training employees and residents in First Aid and CPR on a regular basis, for teaching residents water safety, and for placing emergency equipment onsite throughout its facilities. A Red Cross Celebration Team, comprised of volunteers and staff, took part in the recognition event to celebrate Clayton’s commitment to helping the Red Cross fulfill its mission to prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. |

 Edward Jones recently received the Lifesaver Community Award from the American Red Cross for training its associates in First Aid and CPR on a regular basis, for placing emergency equipment throughout its facilities, and for hosting Red Cross blood drives. Fires and Floods Lead the List of Largest Red Cross Disaster Responses
In a year predicted to be heavy with hurricanes, home fires, wildfires and flooding kept the Red Cross busy helping people whose lives were changed by disasters. Excessive rain in some portions of the country, severe drought in other areas and a lack of major hurricanes changed the traditional disaster response landscape for the American Red Cross in a year that called for more than 230 large scale disaster responses. |

Six Local American Red Cross Disaster Relief Workers Respond to Ice Storms in St. Joseph, Missouri
In response to widespread power outages resulting from a severe winter storm in St. Joseph, Missouri, the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter deployed six local disaster relief workers to support the ongoing Red Cross recovery effort. The local relief workers have accepted deployments that may last as long as two weeks and will specialize in disaster assessment, logistics, sheltering and staffing. There are currently 48 American Red Cross shelters open in the state of Missouri to provide assistance for emergency needs. |

In the spirit of the Thanksgiving season, the American Red Cross recently partnered with Citi to personally thank more than 40,000 local Red Cross financial and blood donors. By opening its call center in O'Fallon, MO on Global Community Day and staffing it with volunteers, Citi enabled the Red Cross to place personal phone calls to local supporters who help the community prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters and emergencies. |

 AAA is a champion for emergency preparedness in the community and for its employees and constituents, implementing lifesaving Red Cross training in CPR, First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in the workplace. In addition, AAA has further prepared for an emergency situation by placing an AED onsite in its corporate facilities. American Red Cross Deploys Four Disaster Relief Workers to California in Response to Wildfires
 The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter is deploying four disaster relief workers to Los Angeles and San Diego, California to support the ongoing wildfire emergency relief effort spanning seven counties in Southern California. Roy Gillespie (St. Louis, MO), a Human Rights Commissioner with the Teamsters, is deploying on his fifth national assignment on behalf of the Red Cross. Gillespie is a Red Cross logistics expert and will be assisting with the organization of Labor Union members as a Labor Liaison for up to three weeks. Jessica Willingham (Kirkwood, MO), Executive Officer of the St. Louis Area Chapter, deployed yesterday and is currently on the ground in Los Angeles serving as a National Red Cross spokesperson. Larry Boyer (O'Fallon, MO) and Mike Wood (Granite City, IL), two long-time Red Cross volunteers, will deploy in the Chapter's Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV). Boyer and Wood will serve meals and assist with logistics. |
