While our neighbors along the Gulf Coast prepare for Hurricane Ike's landfall this weekend, the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter urges everyone in the Greater St. Louis community to take the "Pledge to Prepare" by visiting www.redcrossstl.org and making a personal commitment to prepare for emergencies.

9/9/2008 - Red Cross Presents Lifesaver Community Award to Parkway School District

The St. Louis Area Chapter Celebration Team, comprised of Red Cross volunteers and staff, recently presented the Lifesaver Community Award to the Parkway School District for encouraging its faculty and students to participate in Red Cross blood drives and safety training.

The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter closed its mega-shelter today after receiving confirmation from Governor Blunt's office that mass evacuations sponsored by the State of Louisiana have been suspended.

8/31/2008 - Red Cross Prepares Shelter in Anticipation of up to 600 Hurricane Gustav Evacuees

The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter is preparing a shelter today in anticipation of up to 600 Hurricane Gustav evacuees arriving in St. Louis from Louisiana; Governor Blunt will host a press conference at the shelter at 2:00 p.m. today to discuss Missouri’s role and response to Hurricane Gustav.

8/29/2008 - Energizer Donates $15,000 in Product to the Red Cross in Support of Disaster Preparedness

The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter is the recipient of $15,000 in product from Energizer; the donation was made on behalf of the Energizer Plan. Prepare. Protect. program in support of local disaster preparedness and relief efforts.

8/28/2008 - Red Cross Begins Deployment of Local Volunteers and Supplies as Gustav Approaches

The American Red Cross is making preparations to respond to Tropical Storm Gustav by moving resources into the areas of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama today and Friday.

7/1/2008 - Red Cross Announces Major Donation from Emerson in Support of Service to the Armed Forces

The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter today announced that St. Louis-based Emerson is donating $300,000 over three years to help fund the local Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) program, which provides a variety of services to active duty members of the U. S. military and their families in the St. Louis region, as well as military veterans living here.

The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter recently received $5,000 from the Nationwide Foundation in support of disaster preparedness and response initiatives.

The American Red Cross Jefferson County Service Center honored its volunteers on Friday during its annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner at the First Baptist Church of Arnold in Arnold, MO.

8/22/2008 - Red Cross Presents Lifesaver Community Award to Joyce Meyer Ministries

The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter recently presented the Lifesaver Community Award to Joyce Meyer Ministries for providing health and safety services and training to its employees, placing Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) onsite and hosting blood drives.
