6/23/2008 - Red Cross Focuses Relief Efforts on Winfield in the St. Louis Area

With community efforts underway to shore up the secondary levee just east of Winfield and provide more sandbaggers, the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter is keeping its shelter at Winfield High School open for as long as needed.

6/20/2008 - Red Cross Scales Down Operation to One Shelter in St. Louis Area

With predictions from the National Weather Service that the Mississippi River won’t crest as high as originally anticipated in St. Charles County, the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter is closing its shelter at the First United Methodist Church, located at 801 First Capitol Drive, at 6 p.m. today.

6/19/2008 - Red Cross Continues to Provide Emergency Help Despite Significant Depletion of Disaster Relief Funds

The American Red Cross is currently helping the victims of flooding and tornadoes across an enormous seven-state region in the Midwest even though money is largely depleted from the National Disaster Relief Fund. While continuing the relief efforts in Missouri, Illinois and five other states, the Red Cross is now urging the St. Louis Area community to give, and give generously.

6/17/2008 - Red Cross Opens More 24-Hour Emergency Shelters in Missouri and Illinois to Provide Flood Relief

As the flood waters continue to rise and communities along the Mississippi River in both Missouri and Illinois battle against time to lessen the impact, the American Red Cross has opened two more 24-hour emergency shelters in addition to the one set up last night at Winfield Senior High School in Lincoln County.

6/16/2008 - Red Cross Opens One 24-Hour Emergency Shelter at Winfield High School in Lincoln County

At 5 p.m. today, the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter will open one 24-hour emergency shelter in Lincoln County at the Winfield High School in Winfield, Mo., to provide safe refuge for families and individuals affected by flooding in the region.

6/11/2008 - Five More Red Cross Disaster Relief Caseworkers Deployed to Assist Flood and Tornado Recovery Effort

In addition to the seven disaster relief workers deployed to help with relief efforts in Indianapolis last Sunday, the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter is deploying five additional disaster relief workers to assist with emergency response efforts in Indiana and Iowa following massive flooding and tornadoes.

6/9/2008 - Red Cross Disaster Action Teams Respond to Multi-Unit Apartment Fire and House Fire

The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter dispatched a Disaster Action Team to an eight-unit apartment fire in the 7600 block of Hazelcrest in Hazelwood early Sunday morning.

6/7/2008 - Red Cross Deploys Seven Disaster Volunteers to Assist with Flood Recovery Efforts in Central Indiana

The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter is sending the following seven disaster volunteers to assist the Red Cross Chapter in Indianapolis with sheltering and disaster assessments: Jack Riegel, of St. Louis, Mo.; Gary Ogle, of DeSoto, Mo.; Robert Vinluan, of Imperial, Mo.; Walter Wallheimer, of Caseyville, Ill.; Donald Brozovich, of Overland, Mo.; Larry Fleming of Swansea, Ill.; and Charlie Meyer, of Arnold. Mo.

6/4/2008 - Red Cross DAT Team Responds to Fire of Business and Residence in the City of St. Charles

The St. Charles County Service Center of the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter dispatched a Disaster Action Team to a building fire involving a business and upper level residence in the 1000 block of First Capitol Drive in the City of St. Charles.

6/4/2008 - Red Cross DAT Responds to Roof Cave-In of Home and Meets Family's Immediate Emergency Needs

The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter dispatched a Disaster Action Team to a roof cave-in incident at a home in the 8400 block of Concord Place.

6/3/2008 - Media Advisory: Red Cross, St. Joseph Hospital and Philips to Launch Program in City of Kirkwood

Representatives from the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter, SSM St. Joseph Hospital of Kirkwood, Philips Medical Systems and the City of Kirkwood Fire Department will present an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to the Kirkwood City Council in honor and memory of the victims of the Kirkwood City Hall tragedy.

The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter deployed two volunteer disaster relief workers and one volunteer disaster health services worker to Parkersburg, Iowa, to assist with recovery efforts after Sunday’s tornado.
