
American Red Cross to Host 12th Annual
Lifeguard Competition
16 statewide teams to test rescue skills during scenario-based exercises
WHAT:
The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter will host the 12th Annual American Red Cross Lifeguard Competition in support of the Red Cross mission to help the community prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters and emergencies by promoting the highest standards of water safety.
This year, 16 teams from across the state will compete during scenario-based testing exercises. Lifeguards will be expected to demonstrate skills in first aid, CPR, the rescue of passive and active victims, and the appropriate management of spinal injuries.

Wayne C. Kennedy Recreation Complex
6050 Wells Road(across from Suson County Park)
Directions: Take 40 West to 270 South. Take 270 South to Tesson Ferry Road South. Turn left on Wells Road (about 2-3 miles past St. Anthony Hospital). The facility is on the left across from Suson County Park.
WHY:
The American Red Cross Lifeguard Competition provides a fun and competitive forum to enhance lifesaving skills. By utilizing scenario testing, the Red Cross prepares lifeguards for the realistic situations they may face in the event of an emergency.
