Background: The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter and Steak 'n Shake are partnering to provide much-needed relief to victims of disasters. Steak 'n Shake would like to offer you a $1 off coupon for the price of your meal. In addition to your discount, Steak 'n Shake will donate 20% of the total amount you spend to your local Red Cross Chapter. Please share this discount with your friends and family.
How it works: The coupon is valid through December 31, 2008 and can be redeemed at 53 restaurants across the St. Louis and Metro-East area. Click here to find a location near you.

St. Louis Magazine
Background: The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter and St. Louis Magazine are partnering to provide emergency relief services including food, shelter and clothing during local disasters.
How it works: If you subscribe to St. Louis Magazine online during the months of November or December, 50% of the subscription price will benefit the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter for its disaster relief efforts.

Merchandise Pickup Service
Background: Merchandise Pickup Service (MPS) sells your donated clothing to thrift shops in the United States where they are then sold to the public. They have been in business for over 30 years. They currently have over 300 donation drop boxes in the St. Louis area. These boxes are wooden yellow boxes, which feature "Clothing Donation Drop-Off benefiting X organization." We will be a benefactor of the drop off boxes and they will help set up locations along with a new store front clothing drop off location.
How it Works: MPS opened a store front location May 1st at the Baxter Center located at Clayton and Baxter next to 24 Hour Fitness. This is their first storefront location in the St. Louis area. Donors will drop bags of clothes off at a front desk (which will look like a dry cleaner counter) and will obtain a tax receipt. The value of your donation is determined by weight - MPS donates 6.5 cents per pound to the American Red Cross.

Phones 4 Charity
Background: Phones 4 Charity program recycles used wireless phones to help the environment and raise funds for a variety of charities. Most phones are resold as economic alternatives to new phones. The rest are safely recycled in accordance with all applicable U.S. environment regulations.
How it works: Phones 4 Charity will call businesses, organizations, schools, and groups to set up a phone drop off box at their site. They will ship the organization a box and shipping return information. When the box is full, the organization will ship the box back to Phones 4 Charity (using a prepaid FedEx label). Phones 4 Charity will then send the Red Cross and the collection site a spreadsheet of each phone and what it was worth with a total amount and a check to the American Red Cross.

eScrip
Background: eScrip is proven to be a fantastic resource for fundraising where participating business partners contribute a percentage of your grocery loyalty cards, credit card, and debit/ATM card purchaces to the school, group or organization of your choice. Schnucks is currently a merchant in the St. Louis area that includes the American Red Cross as a beneficiary of the eScrip program.
How it works: You are given a card with an account number on it and the directions for signing up are printed on the card. You can either call or access the web to register your card to benefit the American Red Cross. Schnucks will donate up to 3% of your grocery bills to the American Red Cross. Your purchases are tracked and available to you online, allowing you to see just how much you are earning to benefit the American Red Cross.

eScrip Ink Cartridge Recycle Program
Background: Did you know that every second nine ink cartridges are thrown away? Help us turn that waste into CASH! eScrip Recycling helps the environment and earns money for the Red Cross!
How it works: Collection bins, clearly marked and accessible during normal business hours, will be placed at the St. Louis Area Chapter in Creve Couer. You can drop off your recyclable cartridges whenever it is convenient for you. Periodically, we will mail the empty cartridges to the eScrip Recycling offices. eScrip Recycling will then make a financial donation to the St. Louis Area Chapter.

Keystone Lending
Background: Since Keystone opened its doors, it has been a thriving mortgage business, closing over $13,000,000 in loans in 2006. Because of their success, in 2007 Keystone decided to begin Keystone Cares: Lending for a Cause. This is Keystone's effort to give back to the community while providing organizations' supporters the services they are looking for by a fair and reputable lender. Keystone is partnering with various charitable organizations to help them raise needed funds.
How it works: If you obtain a mortgage from Keystone Financial and mention you are affiliated with the American Red Cross, Keystone will give $200 as a contribution toward the American Red Cross when your loan closes.
